They usually spend a large percentage of their time on exercises which develop the anterior muscles (bench press, leg extensions, bicep curls, etc.) but neglect exercise for the posterior muscles. I see HS athletes every day who have poor posture because they are just concentrating on the 'mirror muscles'. They're called mirror muscles because these are the only muscles you can see in the mirror. To be a strong athletes, you need balance. More specifically, muscle balance. However, the 'pull' exercises tend to be more boring with most athletes only knowing about the seated row or traditional lat pull down. Here are a four creative exercises which work the ‘pull’ muscles by utilizing a standard lat pull-down machine. These creative exercises will add variety to any boring training routine and can be incorporated during any training phase (pre season, off season, etc.)
